3D objects Challenge#14

That's right this week, I'd like you to make a 3D object (preferably out of paper/cardstock) there are lots of free patterns out there (check SplitCoastStampers)

I made this one for my bosses daughter, Katie... she's fun to make stuff for (I get to use flowers!)

You have until Jan. 15 at noon CST to link your creation up

Alter It!

my youngest son is such a sweetie, he wanted to spend all the chore money he's been saving up to buy a 4-wheeler for himself instead on Christmas Gifts for people in our family! I couldn't believe it; I am SO very proud of him. But as we started shopping he realized just how far $154 will go, so it was Mom to the rescue... we'd do these glass blocks someone at Crop Chocolate turned me onto. Here's our start:
Da Block:

Glass Etching Cream (put it on thick & leave it on a loooong time):
After etching:
My boys putting on the tiles:

We decided to do mosaic tiles on the edges of the blocks:

Yep, we're making 4 for his 4 sets of grandparents!

For this challenge, you DO NOT have to make these blocks! ANY altered art project that you are currently making (perhaps a Christmas gift?) will work just fine. Happy Crafting!

Wreath it Up!

UPDATE: DONE!! Wahoo

and I made the bells out of silver glitter paper from Making Memories, made them two-faced in case they get flipped over both sides are pretty :-) I went crazy with the spritzes and there are some "puddles" but there's nothing I can really do about that.

My wreath justs got BIG and I mean REALLY BIG! Here's the TUTORIAL I used and here are a few of my steps I took. All I can say is, I'm not good at rolling these things at all, lol
Added a bit of Tattered Angels & Smooch Spritz

Challenge #11 Snowpeople

This week's challenge I didn't get finished coloring last night so I will have to post tonight, I'm so sorry I keep getting behind. But I want you to color/paper piece/stamp a Snowperson and my recommendation is Sypder's Snowman which you can get free this week

UPDATED: Sypder has generously said that she will give each player a freebie just for using her digi in this week's game! How cool is she? So make sure you leave me your email addy in your comment after you've linked up to receive this special gift from her!

Excuse: Monday night my 9yo son's Guinea Pig, Minos, died after being taken to the vet & on meds. So I convinced dh that ds needs a cat (ds wanted a cat so it worked out well), last night we went to the Animal Shelter to see what was available and, of course, he fell in love with a little girl tuxedo kitty named Checkers and we put in an application to adpot her. I'll find out today if we're approved or not. Here they are:
As soon as I picked her up to hand her to Ike, she started purring - just what he needs

Christmas, Christmas Everywhere Pictures!

My oldest son was insistant upon us having green lights down the center of the tree so I found myself at Wal-Mart on Saturday after Thanksgiving, if you know me at all you know I cannot stand anything Black (toe) Friday related so to find myself at the evil retailer on this weekend is just not me. But we got our green lights & he is a very happy boy. Here's our Christmas tree all lit up.
New ornaments I made for the tree:
no the stickles haven't dried yet so they aren't ready to go on the tree, but as soon as I get home from work on Monday, they will!
Products Used: Cricut Expression with Gypsy & Christmas cartridge; Slice Metallic paper by Making Memories; Stickles Ice

Christmas, Christmas Everywhere

I've been busy with my company so I haven't had a chance to post the challenge. The challenge is to get your Christmas tree/decorations put up (mine are still in the attic of my husbands workshop so it may be tomorrow before I get pics posted) BUT you have to put a handmade paper item on each thing (say tree, wreath, centerpiece, etc. with a paper snowman, angel, star, etc.) and post it, remember you get 3 entries.

I will try to get mine done today as my company has their bags by the door but they're men and are currently playing the Wii :-) Oh well, at least my brother & my husband get along well. Yesterday we went GeoCaching, Jimmy (my brother) is just getting into it with a friend of his and my family did several a few years back but then got distracted by other things. I plotted out a course including 16 caches to hunt down that made a loop leaving the house, driving a bunch of back roads that looped back to our house - this worked great! We took a picnic lunch with us. At one of the middle caches we took this back road we'd never been on only to find ourselves on the opposite side of a very large creek (we kept calling it the river) but guess what.... no bridge, it had washed away! My 12yo son followed his uncle across the water (shallowest area was probably about a foot deep), getting wet about shin level which didn't make mama very happy since it was only about 38 degrees out yesterday! Finally we all got way too impatient, I told the two 9 year olds (my son & neice) to get into my Jeep, drove across the rocky shore to pick up my husband, and just 4wd my way across the creek - OMG!!! What fun that is! I was scared on my way over of killing it, flooding my baby and having to call a wrecker (I have drowned a motorcycle this very way except no wrecker, I had to push it out of the water while dripping wet myself). Anywho, that cache was a bust... we never found it but there is a ton of decay from dead trees and a LOT of trash from flooding. We gave up, loaded 5 in the Jeep & my crazy brother sitting on the hood, and treked back across the creek in my Jeep to have our picnic at Ron's Liberty (oh, dh is Ron). We finished the day with 13 found of the 16, one place was creepy & we were pretty sure on private property so we didn't look too long there or really hang out, my oldest wouldn't even get out of the car! Hope your holiday was a good as mine has been.

Challenge #9 It's a Banner Day!

Someone (Wendy) pointed out yesterday that since I had the drawing there isn't a current challenge & she needs something to work on. Make a full size wall-hanging art or put a mini-banner on a scrapbook page. I'm working on one for WALK FOR DANA which is going to be a decoration for this coming weekend for my friend's breast cancer fund raiser. I can't wait to show it off but more than that to use it at her walk!
Just got Iced
Waiting for the Ice to dry

That sparkly stuff - Polymark Dimensional Fabric Paint that I got free from a swap table (nope, I didn't even leave anything behind)
Dh liked the bright red Santa better than the darker red which is a Sharpie on my desk at work, the darker red is a Copic marker on my desk at home

Think Pink

Challenge #5 is all about Think Pink for that someone in your life who has been affected by this terrible disease.
As a child, my parents best friends were another couple, Sherry & Johnny. My very BEST memories of my childhood involve them. They had no children of their own, this made it easier to pretend I was theirs from time to time. They were an amazing couple! Cool cars, a canary yellow Corvette and a canary yellow Jeep Wrangler. I never got to ride in the 'Vette but spend many a day 4-wheeling around in the Jeep. Canoeing with them would mean I got beer even though I was only a kid this was permitted (it was the 70's!). Sherry had this beautiful long jet black hair, ultra hip clothes and jewelry. Johnny looked like a modern day mountain man but with the biggest heart and quick wit of any man I'd ever met. They had lion statues next to their front door since Lyon was their last name. My parents never fought when we were with Sherry & Johnny; these were the happiest days. Many years ago, we lost Johnny to breast cancer... yes, men can get breast cancer too.
A few months ago I met Mel on scrapbook.com since we're both from Arkansas, we chatted about scrapping together & made a play date for ourselves. Melody brought along her sister Dana. At first sight I thought, this lady scraps?! No way... she isn't plump, she's got some of the longest legs you've ever seen... just didn't fit what I had in my head as "one of us". Let the bonding being! We laughed, joked, got a little teary-eyed and became a little like sisters that day. Dana very recently was diagnosed and has begun going thur her options and making decisions. Her wonderful (real) sister, Melody, is organizing a Walk for Dana benefit on November 20 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. I'm trying to help put together a silent auction item and maybe a few other things, plus work for them that day doing whatever they need me to do... Gopher? My card is dedicated to Dana
I used umWowStudio's Sketch Mania #16 for my basic card design.

And the first winner is.....
